So you are considering joining The Mill Climbing Club?
what do you need to know or do?
- Firstly you must be over 18 years of age
- You should have basic knowledge of the activities that you wish to participate in (this is to ensure that all members are safe)
- You should have your own equipment including harness and boots (although these can be hired on Club Nights at the Mill)
- You should be able to put on a harness and tying in with correct knots
- You should be able to safely use a belay device on a top rope and possibly a lead climber
If you do not have the basic knowledge we would recommend that you go on an introduction to climbing course at The Mill Adventure Centre.
Application Forms
We would welcome you along to our club nights on a Wednesday at The Mill Adventure Centre. Once you have tried it and decide you would then like to formally join the club complete an application form and give it to the Secretary along with your cheque (payable to The Mill Climbing Club) or cash.
How much does it cost?
Annual membership is £20 and this runs from January 1st to December 31st.
The majority of your annual membership fee goes directly to the BMC for the required Third Party insurance; you are able to upgrade this directly with the BMC to individual membership for additional benefits. The remaining money is used to maintain the club; it is also used to book huts in advance to ensure that the members organising trips are not using their own funds to support the club.
